Important information for those planning travel over Winter Break

With the Holiday Season fast approaching, Bucknell Student Health wishes to remind the campus community of the following information regarding any upcoming travel plans you may have.

Due to the Ebola outbreak in West Africa, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued Level 3 Travel Warnings for Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea, urging all U.S. residents to avoid nonessential travel to those countries. Bucknell will not permit University-sponsored or endorsed travel to any countries with such travel warnings. In addition, we strongly discourage individuals from traveling to the countries subject to this CDC warning for any reason. It is important to bear in mind that this is a dynamic situation, such that the list of countries involved is subject to change with limited or no notice. In addition to this Level 3 Travel Warning, the CDC also has in place a Level 2 Travel Alert asking travelers to exercise extra precaution to avoid contact with blood or body fluids of anyone appearing ill when traveling to Mali.

If you travel to or host visitors from one of the affected regions, you are required to contact the University prior to returning to campus.

Students must contact Bucknell Student Health at (570) 577-1401.

Faculty and Staff must contact Human Resources at (570) 577-1631.

Please be advised that you may be required to undergo a medical evaluation prior to returning to Bucknell. Depending on advice from medical professionals and the CDC, quarantine may be required.

Best wishes for an enjoyable, safe, and healthy Holiday Season.
