Tips to Stay Healthy

Self-Care Reminder

Bucknell Student Health is continuing to see students exhibiting signs of viral illness on campus. With our goal being to keep the students healthy and well so that they may perform their best, we would like to remind the campus to pay attention and practice good self-care to prevent the spread of infections. The most important precautions to take to protect yourself from illness are universal.

ALWAYS wash your hands before eating or handling food and after using the restroom.

It is best to wash with soap and water for 20 seconds (as long as it takes to hum or sing “Happy Birthday” or ‘Ray Bucknell twice. If soap and water are unavailable, use a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol by rubbing thoroughly all over hands and between fingers until dry.

NEVER share drinks, or eating utensils, cigarettes, or anything that goes in your mouth.

Keep this in mind when you are eating lunch, studying, or at a social gathering. Avoid kissing someone who is ill.

ALWAYS cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or the crook of your arm. (Discard the tissue and wash your hands afterward)

AVOID smoking and excess alcohol as these can weaken your immune system making you more susceptible to illness.

ALWAYS eat healthy foods and get plenty of rest.
